Ghana Sports Coalition now Ghana Sports Movement is a relational network of individuals, churches, organizations which connect to make disciples in the world of sports, play and fitness.
The Sports Movement in recently years have been a home of many sports trainers and disciples makers in West Africa. By this many sports coaches, sports administrators, churches, disciples’ makers and leaders has received training to go back home and do the same in their communities, cities and countries.

Church Sports Evangelism and Discipleship
Let’s use Sports as Part of Church Evangelism and Discipleship
Christian teaching, worship or mission does embrace the fullness of human life and living, both spiritually, relationally, physically and intellectually. Scripture says our bodies are for worship. God made us body, soul and spirit as Paul says in Romans (12:1-2), “we present to God our bodies and souls to be a living sacrifice unto God”. And in sport at whatever level we play, they all provide us a way to embrace the fullness of being a created human and use our bodies both in worship and in sports to the glory of the Living God, who made all things.
Sport can do so much more in developing the individual skills, talents, gifts and other unseen ability hidden within us for the blessing of many, both in the local church and in the community we live and work.
This is just to mention few ….
- Sports can build relationships. Yes, it is a place of encounter with a common language and a gateway to deeper friendships and Association.
- Sports can be a model for gospel living. It takes work and determination to evangelize and make disciples and requires body, soul and spirit. It can change people’s lives.
- Sports can help create leaders. It brings out the leader in you. It can help to give back headship to disadvantaged communities by offering opportunities for leadership and showcasing talents and weaknesses.
- Sports can initiate reconciliation and resolve difference, misunderstanding and bring healing to communities among others.
I have seen amazing work youth leaders can do together and how some are using sporting activity to engage and change the lives of young people in our communities. Education gives us adequate information’s to do the things we all need to do but the gospel the (good-news) bring total transformation from within to live as new creatures that loves God and love our neighbor. This approach when done in the right way applying biblical principle and true discipleship can achieve so much more. It can develop character and resilience; help reduce anti-social behavior, immorality, waywardness and crime, just to mention a few. Most importantly sports and play bring both local churches and local communities together and change the life-path of young people and start them on a journey of knowing Christ Jesus and making Him known. Let’s GO now with the GOSPEL into the world of sports and play.
To OBEY is better than sacrifice. And to GO is much rewarding than to stay where we are.
God is with us all, Immanuel
